The Institut Momentum was created on the 1st of April 2011 in Paris as an association “loi 1901”.
Its purpose is:
1/ To assemble contributors around the issues of transition, degrowth and resilience.
2/ To promote their contributions by seminars and publications
3/ To organize conferences and debates
4/ To produce studies and reports
5/ To facilitate the concrete implementation of ideas developed within the Institute
6/ To give out training
A central core of a dozen individuals have gathered around Agnès Sinaï (environmental journalist, senior lecturer at Sciences Po Paris) to create the Institut Momentum: Jean-Claude Besson-Girard (director of Entropia review), Philippe Bihouix (engineer specialized in the life cycle of objects), Thierry Caminel (Energy Engineer), Yves Cochet (mathematician and European MP for Europe Ecologie les Verts), Alain Gras (professor of philosophy of techniques), Thomas Guéret (anti-advert engineer and transition activist in the Yvonne, France), Bernard Guibert (economist), Christophe Laurens (urban planner and architect close to the Entropia review), Alice le Roy (Journalist and professor of urban ecology), Thierry Salomon (engineer and co-founder of the “Institut Négawatt”), Luc Semal (doctor in political science and senior lecturer at Sciences Po Paris), Mathilde Szuba (doctor in sociology focused on rationing).
